ʔEsdilagh First Nation Water Management Framework

Ts’il Kaz Koh has a deep connection to the water and the natural systems that depend on it. In recognition of this relationship, the Nation is developing a territory-wide Water Law and Surface Water Management Policy. This initiative builds on the precedent set by the Yinka Dene Water Law, developed by Nadleh Whut’en and Stellat’en First Nations.
Source has worked closely with Ts’il Kaz Koh community members through engagement activities to identify and classify waterbodies of cultural and ecological importance. Source team members participated in multiple on-the-ground sampling events, developed a draft sampling manual, and continue to provide training and technical support for community-led water quality monitoring.
