The Gibraltar Mine in British Columbia is an open pit copper mine located in central British Columbia, north of Williams Lake. The mine is situated on the traditional territories of ʔEsdilagh First Nation and is the fourth-largest open-pit mine in North America.
Since 2014, Source has been providing technical expertise and guidance to ʔEsdilagh First Nation (EFN) and Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG), supporting their involvement in the project. Our work includes assisting with various permitting processes over time and offering strategic insights into key aspects of the mine plan.
Source’s contributions extend to mine water and waste management, treatment system evaluations, discharge planning, and closure planning. Our ongoing efforts aim to ensure that the environmental and cultural priorities of EFN and TNG are effectively integrated and upheld throughout the lifecycle of the Gibraltar Mine.
