Myra Falls Mine – Water Management and Closure Planning

A site-wide stormwater management model was developed for Myra Falls Mine. Modelling involved routing of design flows through various water management reservoirs and hydraulic structures. Decant pipeline systems, pipe outlet energy dissipation, and stream bank riprap were hydraulically designed for the site. Environmental engineering was also provided for surface water and groundwater quality. Extensive field investigations and a drilling program was implemented to conduct a contaminant load balance for closure planning. The tailings disposal facility drainage system was also examined.
