We are looking for a Mine Water Quality Scientist / Biologist!       

Source Environmental Associates Inc. (Source) is a unique team of scientists and engineers dedicated to creating innovative and reliable water quality solutions within the mining industry. Source’s strength lies in seeing the overall picture of mine water management and mitigating key issues of concern.

We provide dependable solutions to complex surface water and hydrogeological issues for industry, First Nations and government clients in BC, Ontario, northern Canada and internationally.

We have an immediate opening for a junior or intermediate scientist/ biologist to assist with technical/ environmental and regulatory review of mining projects in Canada and the USA. This position can be home based and is limited to British Columbia, Alberta and Yukon time zones and resident locations.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant aquatic science speciality with a focus on assessing impacts to freshwater environments. The candidate should be interested in protecting freshwater potentially impacted by the mining industry.

  • The applicant should be keen and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work as a team and prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines.
  • Report preparation and writing skills are required, along with a solid understanding of MS Office suite and remote work software.
  • 0-5 years experience.

The work will be able to accommodate the level of experience of the candidate.

Knowledge and experience in the following areas is an asset:

  • Geochemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, water quality effects assessment, water resource management, aquatic biology
  • Regulatory approvals, mining, consulting or EA / permitting,
  • Social justice issues, Indigenous communities and environmental ethics.

You will assist with technical/ regulatory reviews for First Nations governments and federal/provincial/state government in water/mining.

Candidates will be considered for working from a remote office (within BC, AB, YT).
