Environmental / Mining Professional, Scientist or Engineer
Source Environmental Associates Inc. is a unique team of scientists and engineers dedicated to creating innovative and reliable water quality solutions within the mining industry. We provide dependable solutions to complex surface water and hydrogeological issues for industry, First Nations and government clients in BC, Ontario, northern Canada and internationally.
We have an immediate opening for an engineer/scientist to assist with technical and regulatory review of mining and other resource-based projects in Canada. Applicants should have a master’s degree in a relevant science/engineering designation or a bachelor’s degree and 2+ years experience in consulting/industry/government related to resource projects. The candidate should have knowledge of First Nations rights / experience and have a demonstrated interest in social justice issues and/or protecting freshwater.
- The applicant should be keen and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work as a team and prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines.
- Report preparation and writing skills are required, along with a solid understanding of MS Office suite.
- Ability to register with EGBC, Professional Biologists or another professional organization.
- 2+ years experience (or master’s degree).

Knowledge and experience in the following areas is an asset:
- Regulatory approvals in mining and linear developments, including Environmental Assessment (EA) / permitting / construction / operations and closure
- Geochemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, water quality effects assessment, water resource management
- Best Achievable Technology (BAT) studies for tailings facilities and water discharge approvals
- Social justice issues, Indigenous communities and environmental ethics
You will be working with senior engineers and scientists with extensive regulatory and technical experience in mining / mitigation design and environmental approvals. You will be exposed to many mining projects and other resource projects at various phases including EA, permitting, expansions, ongoing life-of-mine and closure. You will assist with technical/ regulatory reviews for First Nations governments and federal/provincial/state governments.
This is a hybrid position, however more experienced, independent candidates from outside the lower mainland are encouraged to apply as a remote position. The ability to work at the office in North Vancouver is an asset. Candidates with extensive relevant work experience may be considered for working from a remote office (within British Columbia).
